Motivation for Women Over 40

You finally said OK I have had it. I am going to get motivated to change my health! So you google "diets" and find so much MIS-information that you get SO confused you just put down your phone and scream, "oh just forget it"!

So, day 2 you decide, " I will find a gym" then workout every day! So, you google all the gyms in your area and find that most offer no beginner options, are full of super athletic, already been working out for years - every legging and shirt matches women there and you think wellllllll NOPE! 

You scream: "I need a TRIBE of women who are LIKE ME!" Over 40, not perfect, FUN, REAL, are on a new or continuing journey to take time for themselves for the first time in a LONG time and can REALATE to hot flashes, bad knees, empty nest, a few extra pounds, having to get cheater glasses and do like a glass of wine every now and then..

 

Well!!! HERE WE ARE!!! And, here is why I started Livewellfit!  A quick video when someone asked me at the park what I do and why I do it:

I created livewellfit for women who want to find the FUN and joy in becoming and staying healhty. A place where women can come for encouragement and offer support to each other. A place where others ask you "where were you yesterday, missed you in class" ...and hold you accountable to keep you on track! And, know your name!

So I am personally inviting YOU! Yes, YOU to get motivated. We start with moving and we have seminars on stress, nutriton, cooking, self image and more.

We offer a safe place to start and have claseses as early as 5:00 am until 7:45 pm. SURELY you can find a time in between there to take 30 minutes for you?  We offer Fit camps for 4 weeks where you will start with those BRAND NEW to everything OR you can drop into ANY beginner class or train with one of our personal trainers (all female) to get you started. The best part of this is that you will have women YOUR age going through what YOU are going through, becoming you new besties!  

Here's to you sister! TIME FOR YOU! I am 56 years old and absolutly LOVE doing what I have done for 35 years. I get blessed to be able to meet new women every day who needed a place to START and continue.

What have Margie and the rest of these women done for 60 days?

They have taken 60 days to make time for themselves to do the one thing that seems SO hard for women to do,
make THEMSELVES a priority.

When they were CONSIDERING enrolling in the challenge, were they scared of failure? You bet …

Were they fearful of exposing things about themselves that might reveal WHY they have been on a roller coaster of health for years? Absolutely ...

Did they fear they wouldn't finish? Yep!

Just like EVERY woman out there, I am convinced that every woman has confidence issues and never fully takes the time to address the emotional, physical and spiritual needs that as combination, must work together for a HEALTHY life. The number one reason I continue to do these.

WHAT DID THEY DO TO ATTAIN THESE RESULTS?

There are few things that EVERY woman can start doing TODAY to get the results these gals have:

  1. Make a plan – What you will eat, when you will move daily, what those things are.

  2. Keep a journal of your food intake, sleep, and movement.

  3. Start the day with a healthy breakfast that consists of nothing but goodness and protein. Eat real food, no processed foods and read labels. Restore - What It Means at LiveWellFit

When you become a part of our livewellfit Tribe of women , you are added to our private Facebook group page.

In this group, fun things are shared, trash talk is typed to those that missed class, encouragement to those who are struggling, questions about nutriton and classes and just general fun talk amongst women in the tribe.

As we ended one 60 day challenge and began another, I felt the need to take a step back, to RESTORE energy and my  passion for these ladies. Thus, My theme for the summer months is to RESTORE.

 

With that, I have added extra YOGA classes, encourage everyone to get at least 7-8 sleep ( SO needed) and take the summer to recharge. My clients speak about LiveWellFit  quoting, " it is not just  a "gym".. it s a place of encouragement, healing and fun.  

 

Restore.

According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, the word restore has the three following definitions:
• : to give back (someone or something that was lost or taken) : to return (someone or something)
• : to put or bring (something) back into existence or use
• : to return (something) to an earlier or original condition by repairing it, cleaning it, etc.

I've heard Suzi (and have seen her post) a few times that this summer’s theme is “restore” and last night as I was leaving Booty Barre with Laci ,, ROCKED, y’all, and you should definitely go!!—I began to feel the need to write begin to grow. Anyone who knows me knows that I now use my words. So…there will be several here…just read it and do with it what you will. My words are to bring life, to build up, not to tear down, I promise you that my sweet sister. I wasn’t sure what to write about until it hit me as I was having my prayer time before bed.

If I were in a room full of you, I would ask you the following questions:
• How many of us have ever felt betrayed?
• How many of us have ever been hurt?
• How many of us have ever felt alone?
• Have you ever been abused or taken advantage of,?
• Have you ever lost someone you really cared about, whether it be from death or just the changing of relationships in life?
• How many of us feel uncomfortable with or even struggle with self-image problems or self-hatred? Low self-esteem?
• Do you feel like you’ve had everything taken from you and you have to build up again, starting from scratch and from the bottom again?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, congratulations: you are human! Life stinks sometimes and it’s JUST NOT FAIR, right?? I know.

If I were sitting beside you, I would hold your hand and look you in the eye and tell you that we—together—can make it through whatever storm is in front of you. I would stand beside you as you faced those demons. I would pray with and for you. I would point you in the direction of someone much wiser and more equipped than myself for guidance and help, if you needed it---and let me just say, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

Sisters, I know the pain of abuse; I know the pain of being taken advantage of; I know the pain of being completely isolated and having no one and to feel completely alone and unloved; I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and see someone who is way bigger than what you really are but feeling like there’s no way to convince your brain that that’s not what you look like; I know the pain of loss, losing someone you carried but never really got the chance to meet, a life taken away without any reason and not even at being your fault; I know the pain of injuring yourself to try to make the pain of your life/world go away; needless to say, my dear sisters: I know pain. BUT, I also know restoration.

It is not easy. It is not easy but it is so worth it. Restoration and healing is possible for you. Let me say that again, restoration and healing is possible for YOU. The fact that you’re a part of this group is a huge step toward that!!! Maybe you need to get your anger out in a kickboxing or spin cyle (or any of the awesome classes we have!!) class or yoga (and sometimes y’all, I just gotta let those tears flow…except in bird of paradise, then I’m just trying to focus on not falling flat on my face or kicking the nose of the woman behind me! :-P) and that’s all you need for stress relief—awesome!!; maybe you need to learn how to eat clean and healthy and should set up a nutrition session—go for it!!!; maybe you need an accountability partner to make sure you get yourself to class: make a friend in a class and do it!!!; and maybe you need someone to talk to who can legitimately answer your questions, hear your hurts, help you walk through the pain, and give you the best tools you need to grow and keep moving forward---reach out and ask!!! There are great counselors/therapists out there: find one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!! When I began seeing mine, I was angry and didn’t want to be there and really only went to appease someone else, but let me tell you, after some really intense and hard work and the willingness to keep going, I can see a huge difference. I’m not the same person that I was even a year ago. I’m telling you, y’all, she’s amazing and it’s one of the best things I have ever done.

Do it if you need to. Now, I’m not saying that once you take the steps you need to that things will be easy and you’ll never struggle again. Sister, sometimes things just aren’t sunshine and rainbows. I STILL have my bad days…in fact, I recently had about 3 weeks full of rainy and doom and gloom days and I stomped by stubborn foot and didn’t care. It happens. I struggle. I get depressed. But the important thing is to not stay there!! Let yourself feel those things when they come along and then pick yourself up, dust yourself off (or call on a sister/friend/spouse/therapist/whoever to help you) and keep moving forward. YOU CAN DO THIS!! I promise.

I think so many people look at LiveWellFit when they’re driving by and think, “oh, that’s just another gym.” Until they either meet someone who invites them along or they wander in the door themselves. Can we not all agree that that someone or those wandering steps were some of the greatest we’ve ever made/walked? LWF is SO much more than that. Together, we are a tribe of women moving forward toward health. We are marching together toward the goals we have set in front of ourselves. We are not alone. Next time you’re in a class, look around at the beautiful (and yes, each one of you are beautiful---you just may not see it yet, but I sure do!!) women around you and remember that you’re not alone. We are each here for a purpose. There is a plan in the purpose.

So…what do you say? Let’s embark on a journey this summer. A journey of restoration and healing. And what a better place to start than with a whole tribe of crazy, strong, healing, beautiful, goofy, powerful, and purposeful women LIKE YOURSELF? Let’s make summer 2017 one of restoration; one of healing. Take those steps (even if they’re baby steps, which are sometimes the best) and begin the journey---do what you need to do. Take a second to reread the definitions of restore above. Purpose to take steps towards something there. It’s not an easy journey but with a group of sisters with you, you can do it. I promise. I’m a fighter—I had to to survive—and I’ll fight to see you survive, grow, and thrive!!! And don’t think I have it all together, I’m right there with you. I’ll be by your side in all my crazy, laughing, emotional, loving glory.

Let’s restore together!
